About Us

Beijing Ducks RFC was established in 2017 with the aim to grow rugby in China and has had considerable success with increasing local participation in the thriving Beijing Cup rugby competition.

Our club has a unique mix of local Chinese and expat players, providing our local players with an international rugby club setting where they can learn from teammates from tier 1 rugby nation.  The club also provides our expat players with a comfortable and familiar rugby club setting but with unique local Chinese input which ensures our players are not playing rugby in an expat bubble.

Beijing

HOME TO THE BEIJING DUCKS

Beijing, China’s sprawling capital city, is where the country’s long history of dynastic rule meets its ambition to become a high-tech giant. This dynamic plays out in the city’s architecture; ultra-modern structures built for the 2008 Olympics jar with the temples, palaces and hutongs (narrow alleyways) that have defined Beijing for centuries.

It might be the epicentre of Chinese history, but today Beijing is the country’s capital of cool. Former ancient brothels are now stylish coffee shops, traditional hutongs house tiki bars and microbreweries, and a revolving carousel of works populate the achingly trendy art districts. While new restaurants routinely pop up all over, the best of Beijing’s cuisine can be sampled at its old-school hotpot and Peking-duck restaurants.

As China’s cultural heart, Beijing serves up a superb showcase of traditional entertainment, as well as new-age extravaganzas. Beijing is the type of city that encourages you to explore, and rewards you for every additional corner you turn. It is fast-paced and energetic yet zen at the same time. Its hard to explain, but one thing is for sure... you'll love it.

Men's

The Beijing Ducks men's team plays in the Beijing Cup, which can accurately be described as "social competitive rugby".  Higher level players have an avenue for playing at a more competitive level if selected for the Beijing representative team "Beijing United" which plays in the fiercely competed All China Cup, a nationwide competition including the best rugby clubs in Mainland China.

Women's

WOMEN'S RUGBY IS BOOMING IN CHINA

Womens rugby in China is developing rapidly. The China National Women's 7s team qualified for the next Olympics and the country is pumped to get behind their girls.

As a community, womens rugby is strongest in Beijing. We have a number of international club teams that play in our competition as well as some semi-professional provincial teams that are on the China rugby development pathway.

However, this being said, we have just as many newbies as we do elite womens players and there is enough diversity in the competition that everyone will find a level that suits them. Its a brilliant community of powerful women kicking ass on the pitch.

Club Socials

In China we take our after-matches very seriously. Rugby is a focal point for the international social scene in Beijing which makes for a lot of off the pitch fun that not only includes players but also the extended club community.

We generally kick our after-matches off with dinner and drinks at our sponsor bar (located in the centre of the nightlife district), there is a rugby discount of course, and things go downhill from there.

Outside of the after-match culture, we endeavor to tour internationally once a year and we pride ourselves as being a very open and friendly club. Our players regularly get together for social events outside the standard after-match routine.
