About Us
AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK AND PLAY RUGBY IN CHINA
Beijing Ducks RFC was established in 2017 with the aim to grow rugby in China and has had considerable success with increasing local participation in the rapidly expanding Beijing Cup Premiership.
Since our founding, we have established a South China arm of our club called the Shenzhen Pirates RFC which plays in Hong Kong, in the best Asian club rugby competition outside of Japan. Our club welcomes international players at both competitive and social levels from around the world by connecting these players with teaching opportunities for native English speakers in local & international schools.
As well as providing stable / well paid employment, our club's players are a family away from home to each other. We provide new players with the foundations to safely and comfortably spread their wings in China both on and off the field.

Beijing
HOME TO THE BEIJING DUCKS
Beijing, China’s sprawling capital city, is where the country’s long history of dynastic rule meets its ambition to become a high-tech giant. This dynamic plays out in the city’s architecture; ultra-modern structures built for the 2008 Olympics jar with the temples, palaces and hutongs (narrow alleyways) that have defined Beijing for centuries.
It might be the epicentre of Chinese history, but today Beijing is the country’s capital of cool. Former ancient brothels are now stylish coffee shops, traditional hutongs house tiki bars and microbreweries, and a revolving carousel of works populate the achingly trendy art districts. While new restaurants routinely pop up all over, the best of Beijing’s cuisine can be sampled at its old-school hotpot and Peking-duck restaurants.
As China’s cultural heart, Beijing serves up a superb showcase of traditional entertainment, as well as new-age extravaganzas. Beijing is the type of city that encourages you to explore, and rewards you for every additional corner you turn. It is fast-paced and energetic yet zen at the same time. Its hard to explain, but one thing is for sure... you'll love it.
Shenzhen
HOME TO THE SHENZHEN PIRATES
Perched on the northern border with Hong Kong, Shenzhen is a mega-city of over fifteen million residents. While this sprawling metropolis is only just over 30 years old, it has developed at an extraordinarily fast pace. As China's tech capital, it often seems like a hyper-modern sneak-peek at the future of smart cities everywhere.
However, Shenzhen is not merely a tech destination. With its range of museums, burgeoning art district, and an impressive, diverse population of innovators and entrepreneurs, the city has a lot to show off.
With one of the most vibrant local music and nightlife scenes, Shenzhen is an incredibly entertaining city to live in.
The large number of green spaces, beautiful beaches, and nearby islands often encourage you to imagine you are somewhere in Brazil or Latin America - This can't be China, right?! Couple this with the fact that Hong Kong is mere minutes away, and all of a sudden you gotta ask yourself why you'd want to live anywhere else!

Women's
WOMEN'S RUGBY IS BOOMING IN CHINA
Womens rugby in China is developing rapidly. The China National Women's 7s team qualified for the next Olympics and the country is pumped to get behind their girls.
As a community, womens rugby is strongest in Beijing. We have a number of international club teams that play in our competition as well as some semi-professional provincial teams that are on the China rugby development pathway.
However, this being said, we have just as many newbies as we do elite womens players and there is enough diversity in the competition that everyone will find a level that suits them. Its a brilliant community of powerful women kicking ass on the pitch.
Men's
RUGBY IN CHINA CATERS TO ELITE & SOCIAL PLAYERS EQUALLY
By joining us, players will progress through an exciting rugby pathway that can culminate with fully professional opportunities.
Whether you are a social player simply looking to play for the love of the game, or an elite athlete looking to progress as a professional, we have an unrivalled capacity to support players during their rugby journey in China.
We have placed some of our more talented players into semi-professional teams in the Hong Kong Premiership and have signed two players to fully professional contracts with the South China Tigers (Global Rapid Rugby).

The Social
THE AFTERMATCH & NIGHTLIFE IN CHINA
In China we take our after-matches very seriously. Rugby is a focal point for the international social scene in both Beijing and Shenzhen which makes for a lot of off the pitch fun that not only includes players but also the extended club community.
Beijing and Shenzhen are both megacities with populations of 25 and 15 million respectively, so the nightlife does not disappoint. Many nightclubs remain open until 7am in the morning and the cost of a beverage is less than 60% of what you're paying back home.
We generally kick our after-matches off with dinner and drinks at our sponsor bar (located in the centre of the nightlife district), there is a rugby discount of course, and things go downhill from there.
Outside of the after-match culture, we tour internationally at least once a year and we pride ourselves as being a very open and friendly club. Our players regularly get together for social events outside the standard after-match routine.
Exploring China and the rest of Asia is also a huge draw card as most of our players will visit nearby countries multiple times during their stay - its just so affordable!
